Roddy Piper
Roderick George Toombs, besser bekannt unter seinem In-Ring-Namen „Rowdy“ Roddy Piper, (* 17. April 1954 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; † 31. Juli 2015 in Hollywood, Kalifornien, USA) war ein kanadischer Wrestler und Schauspieler schottischer Abstammung. Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seine impulsive Art und die charakteristischen Wutattacken, die ihm die Spitznamen „Rowdy“ und „Hot Rod“ einbrachten. 2007 wurde er in die Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
Bei Wrestlemania III traf er John Carpenter, der ihn bei seiner Karriere als Filmschauspieler unterstützte. Carpenter besetzte ihn als Hauptdarsteller in seinem Film Sie leben. Pipers übrige Filmkarriere lag allerdings im Bereich der sogenannten B-Filme.
