Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger ist ein österreichisch-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Publizist, Unternehmer, ehemaliger Bodybuilder sowie ehemaliger US-Politiker. Von 2003 bis 2011 war er der 38. Gouverneur Kaliforniens. Davor erlangte er vor allem als siebenfacher Mister Olympia sowie dank zahlreicher Hollywoodfilme, insbesondere durch seine Verkörperung des Terminators, internationale Bekanntheit. Diese Rolle brachte ihm 2003, im Vorfeld seiner Kandidatur, den Spitznamen Governator ein.
Durch sein sehr erfolgreiches und turbulentes Leben gilt er als Paradebeispiel, den „amerikanischen Traum“ zu leben. Er wurde zu einer der bekanntesten Persönlichkeiten in den USA und einem der erfolgreichsten Action-Darsteller der Filmgeschichte.
